Del Monte FruitBurst review and #giveaway

No compensation was received for this post. DelMonte provided information for the post, a gift pack for my family and one for the giveaway. All opinions expressed are entirely my own or that of my family.

We recently had the chance to try a new product from Del Monte® - new Fruit Burst™ Squeezers. We tried Simply Fruit - Strawberry and Fruit + Veggie - Peach-Mango. As a mom, I really like the convenience of getting 1 1/2 servings of fruit or fruit and veggies in an easy to eat pouch. When we are enjoying them at home, we typically will have them right from the fridge, but when we are on the go, I like knowing that they are portable, easy to consume (no utensils required) and don't require refrigeration (unless you don't eat it all at once, then you should refrigerate the remaining product). I like that all of the sweetness in the product comes from fruit puree and juice concentrates. For me, the strangest part was the texture - it is a very smooth puree, but it has a great flavor. The kids consider them to be a treat (as a mom, I love when fruits and vegetables are a treat) and are excited when they are included in their lunch or as a snack. I have already been asked to buy more for them to have as snacks and in their lunches.

About Fruit Burst™ Squeezers

The contest is closed now, but everyone was invited to upload an original photo of your child on their first day of school or yourself on your own first day of school. The top 20 Finalist photos were posted to the Del Monte Fruit Squeezers website, and fans had the chance to vote for their favorite photo. Green Giant Seasoned Steamers - a Giveaway

"With a dash of imagination, a pinch of culinary skill, and a heap of flavor, Green Giant Seasoned Steamers™ are giving you a new reason to enjoy eating your vegetables. Shake up your vegetable routine with these flavorful, chef-inspired options that are seasoned to perfection, without a drop of sauce. Now, more than ever, you can leave your family craving more vegetables with every meal and break through meal monotony with a new palate-pleasing vegetable option for everyone! With new Green Giant® Seasoned Steamers™, eating vegetables just got easier and more delicious!
- Available in six different varieties, Green Giant Seasoned Steamers™ are one of the first sauce-free seasoned vegetables to bring unique chef-inspired seasonings and premium cut vegetable blends to your dining room table
- These tasty Seasoned Steamers are bound to spice up any meal with six varieties including: Mediterranean Blend, Tuscan Seasoned Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts with Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper, Honey Roasted Sweet Corn, Honey Dijon Carrots and Backyard Grilled Potatoes"

At our house, we try to have vegetables with our meals. We do a mix of fresh vegetables - raw or cooked, frozen vegetables, and canned - green beans and corn only. I like the brightness of fresh vegetables, but they aren't always in season and so, we tend to mix in other options.

These new Seasoned Steamers from Green Giant sound so delicious to me. They will make a nice (and convenient) addition to our meals and I can not wait to try many of the varieties. Take Backyard Grilled Potatoes - a seasoned blend of roasted potatoes, peppers, and onions or Honey Roasted Sweet Corn - a blend of corn and peppers with a touch of honey. The Tuscan Seasoned Broccoli has Parmesan cheese and Tuscan seasoning. I have never had Brussel Sprouts, but strangely have wanted to try them lately and I figure that this is probably the 'no fail' way to do it (vs trying to prepare fresh).

Want to try them? You can download a printable coupon for $1.00 off the purchase of one package of Green Giant Seasoned Steamers™.

Giveaway!

Courtesy of Green Giant, through MyBlogSpark, I have the chance to give away to one A Busy Mom of Two reader, a Green Giant Seasoned Steamers gift pack, which includes:
- (1) VIP coupon for one free package of Green Giant Seasoned Steamers™
- Apron
- Green Giant Serving Spoon
- Mixing Bowl

Progresso Light Crème Soup - a giveaway

I don't know about where you are, but here it is definitely starting to feel like fall. I didn't want to, but the other day I gave in and turned on the heat...I just had to get that chill out of the air. It is still 'on' but I have it set at 64, just warm enough to keep it from getting cold in the house.

Days like this really make me start to switch gears on the type of foods and drinks that I have. It makes me ready for piping bowls of chili, roasts that cook for hours in the oven, apple desserts, hot tea and soup. With the exception of Cincinnati style chili, many of these foods simply aren't things that I think about in the summer. So, the fall is like a time to welcome these foods back into the menu.

Of course, there seems to be a richness to many of the foods that I enjoy in the winter, the so called comfort foods. This is not a good thing when you are trying to watch what you eat. It is nice to know that there are lighter options out there that can let me enjoy the comfort foods of fall, with a little less worry.

"With two new creamy flavors, Progresso Light soups are giving those who are managing their weight a new reason to celebrate! At 100 calories per serving, now you can indulge in warm, creamy soups like Light Creamy Potato with Bacon and Cheese* and Light Chicken Pot Pie Style* without feeling guilty. Packed with indulgent, satisfying flavor, these two new Light creamy soups are the perfect way to make thoughtful eating decisions without sacrificing incredible taste.
- These two new Progresso Light creamy soups are joining the lineup of more than 40 flavorful soups that are 100 calories or less per serving
- These Weight Watchers® endorsed soups have 100 calories and a 2 PointsPlus® value per serving
- The Creamy Potato with Bacon & Cheese variety boasts pieces of potato with savory bacon and rich cheese flavor
- The Chicken Pot Pie Style variety exudes a home-style essence with cuts of white-meat chicken, hearty potatoes and classic vegetables

*Light Chicken Pot Pie Style: At least 33% fewer calories than regular ready-to-serve soups. Light Creamy Potato with Bacon & Cheese: 50% fewer calories than the leading potato, cheese, and bacon ready-to serve soup. See nutrition information for sodium content.

Savings!
Right now, you can print a coupon for $1.25 off the purchase of 4 cans of Progresso soup.

(1) Soup mug
(1) Lunch tote

Crayola & General Mills BTS at Target - #giveaway

Have you been busy doing back to school shopping? We have been at my house. It actually started back in early July for me, when I started to do some uniform shopping online. Then came the early school supply ads that we would pick up while we were out. Now, it is down to finding those things we don't yet have on our teacher supplied supply lists, the missing pieces of clothes and shoes and preparing the pantry for back to school snacks, lunches and breakfast (the kids eat at Daycare most days in the summer).

Just yesterday, we stopped by Target to pick up some supplies - loose leaf paper, pens, lunch supplies, disinfectant wipes and more. One of the things that we picked up were General Mills Cereals that feature a fun coloring activity on pack and coupons to save up to $5 on Crayola products (available exclusively at Target). We grabbed Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch - they were on sale for $2.99 a pack and we had $.50 coupons for each that are available online (coupons.com).

"With only a few short weeks before school bells chime and you’re back in your weekday morning routines, now is the perfect time to stock up on your kids’ school supplies and on-the-go breakfast favorites. With Crayola® and General Mills teaming up at your local Target, you’ll be sure to pass back-to- school prep with flying colors!

Available exclusively at Target Stores during the month of August:

- Purchase specially marked Nature Valley® Crunchy Granola Bars, Pillsbury® Toaster Strudel® Pastries, and Big G Cereal packages and you could save up to $5 on Crayola products
- Participating Big G cereal boxes will feature a fun Crayola coloring activity on pack
- Save on General Mills products when you purchase specially marked Crayola 64-CT Crayons

This back-to-school season will be as easy as 1-2-3 with a little help from General Mills, Crayola, and Target, the one-stop-shop for all your back-to-school needs! Head to the front of the class and check out www.GrocerySavvy.com where you’ll find even more coupons for back-to-school, recipes, and a special 2012 “Grocery Savvy Crayola® Back To School” Sweepstakes! Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies

I may have mentioned before that I have a liking of chocolate, so when I have a chance to try something new that is not high in calories and has the added benefit of providing fiber, I usually am game. Such was the case when I was asked to try the new Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie.

I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but always worry that with items that have fiber, that they will be dry. I was pleasantly surprised at how soft and chewy they were. I like that I can easily throw one in my work bag and have it on hand for those afternoon snack needs. Much better for me than the candy that I occasionally keep at my desk for a mid-day chocolate fix.
"Dreaming of a brownie that will satisfy your sweet tooth craving to help you stay on track? New Chocolate Chip Cookie flavor Fiber One® 90 Calorie Brownies, combine your favorite dessert flavors: chocolate chip cookie AND brownie! When you’ve got brownies on the brain, but don’t want to over-indulge, this moist and chewy chocolate chip cookie brownie is the perfectly portioned 90-calorie snack.
- Each serving provides 20 percent of the Daily Value of fiber (5g)*
- Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie flavor features semisweet chocolate chips in a cookie-batter brownie topped with a dark chocolaty flavored drizzle

*3g of total fat per brownie.

New Fiber One® 90 Calorie Brownies: Chocolate Chip Cookie flavor make the perfect afternoon pick-me-up, satisfying your chocolate cravings at work or at home. We recommend keeping a supply at your desk or kitchen snack drawer (that’s what we do!)."

Baguette Chips - #Giveaway

As I mentioned earlier, one of the snacks that we took along to our marathon sports day were Baguette Chips. This new product has 50% less fat than a regular potato chip and comes in two varieties - Cheddar Sun-Dried Tomato and Italian Cheese & Herb.

I have always been a fan of what I will call bread based chips. Whether it is those little chips you find in Chex mix or bagel chips or pita chips, there is just something so appealing about them to me. I think that they have a stronger crunch than a typical chip and they seem to hold and embody the seasoning that is applied - whether it is a simple sea salt or something like the Cheddar Sun-Dried Tomato and Italian Cheese & Herb. If you are looking for a chip to dip, they also make excellent carriers of even the strongest dips - Artichoke Dip, Hummus or a Cream Cheese based dip.

These new Baguette Chips did not disappoint. I rather enjoyed them. Since I am watching my calorie intake, I like that a 1 oz serving (~21 chips) is only 130 calories. To me, it feels like a satisfying size snack or side dish with a sandwich.

"Pillsbury knows just how you feel and wants to awaken your taste buds with their new Pillsbury® Baguette Chips! These hearty chips are sliced from oven baked bread and topped with savory seasonings bringing the unique and contemporary flavors of Italian Cheese & Herb and Cheddar Sun-dried Tomato to gourmet snack chips. The delicious flavors and perfect texture of these crispy chips can help you round out any recipe.

+ Enjoy Pillsbury Baguette Chips for a wide range of occasions: eat them alone, add a bit more flavor to your favorite dip, spice up soup, or add some crunch to your salad!
+ With 130 calories per serving (21 baguette chips), and 50% less fat than regular potato chips*, Pillsbury Baguette Chips are delicious snack chips that you can feel good about eating

*Pillsbury Baguette Chips (5g fat per 29g serving); regular potato chips (11g fat per 29g serving). See nutrition information for sodium content."

Want to try them for yourself? Download a printable coupon for $0.75 off one package.

Mott's Fruit Flavored Snacks - #giveaway

I can't believe that it is already July. This summer has been going by so fast. We have been very busy with sports for both kids. Now, we are finally down to a baseball tournament team with a few practices and a couple of busy weekends and swimming lessons. Our June was not like that at all.

Take the last weekend of June as an example. On Saturday, we had a very full schedule. We started the day at 9 am at the soccer field. My husband and son stayed there, when my daughter and I ran to the Y for swimming lessons. Then, we met back up at the soccer field. I handed my husband the packed lunch, as he left to go to the baseball field for the playoff games for the league he is commissioner of. The kids and I had lunch and then after a couple more soccer games, where we got eliminated from the tournament, we headed down the road to the T-Ball field. After T-Ball we had a quick ice cream treat with the team and met my husband at the baseball field. We headed home about 7 pm. Everyone showered and we headed out for dinner. After dinner, it was off to an engagement party.

On days like the above, I find it important to keep the family energized. Trying to sustain the family and still be portable enough to move from spot to spot during the day, can be a challenge. We each brought along a water bottle and my son, had a full jug. I brought along a small cooler with extra drinks, sandwiches, grapes and red peppers. In my bag, I brought along some baguette chips (more to come on that!) and some fruit snacks.

The fruit snacks that I packed were the new Mott's Medleys Fruit Flavored Snacks. The kids like that there are a couple of varieties. We enjoyed both the Berry and the Assorted Fruits. I thought that it was interesting that they are made with real fruit and vegetable juice (pear, apple and carrot). I checked the nutritional data, and they seemed similar to other fruit snacks that I had.

For us, fruit snacks are a go to snack for on the go.

"Fortunately the Mott’s® taste that kids love is now available in yummy fruit flavored snacks! Available in Assorted Fruit and Berry varieties, Mott’s® Medleys Fruit Flavored Snacks are the ideal blend of great tasting and quality ingredients that will make both kids and moms happy.

Made with real fruit & vegetable juice* and natural colors and flavors
Available with year round Double Box Tops

Mott’s® Medleys Fruit Flavored Snacks are great on-the-go, so whether your family is lounging by the pool, playing in the park, or hanging on the beach this summer, Mott’s® has snack time covered!

*Made with pear, apple and carrot juice concentrate. See package for complete details. Not intended to replace fruit or vegetables in the diet.

Want to give them a try? Use this printable coupon for $0.60 off the purchase of (1) Mott’s® Medleys Fruit Flavored Snacks today!

Giveaway!
I have the opportunity to give away several gift packs to A Busy Mom of Two readers. Each gift pack will contain:

Big G Curvy Straws - a giveaway

My kids love straws. Of course, from their perspective, the more fancy the better. A bendy straw is better than a straight straw, a wacky straw with bends and loops is even better than a curvy straw.

When they first saw the new colorful, curvy straws that are available in specially marked passages of Big G cereals, they were very excited. You can use just one or connect them all.
"Did you know that simply drinking the leftover milk from cereal bowls may help kids work towards fulfilling their body’s daily dairy, calcium, and Vitamin D needs? And what better way to slurp down to the bottom of the bowl than with the new Curvy Straws, available in-pack of specially marked boxes of Big G cereal! With these collectable, connectable Curvy Straws, children of all ages can enjoy mixing and matching to build bigger, colorful straws all while helping them work towards stronger bones and muscles through increased calcium intake!
Be sure to collect all six different colorful straws featuring beloved Big G cereal characters
- Participating Big G cereals include Cinnamon Toast Crunch® (17 oz.), Lucky Charms®(16 oz.), Reese’s® Puffs (18 oz.), Honey Nut Cheerios® (17 oz.), Trix®(14.8 oz) and Cocoa Puffs® (16.5 oz)
- Made with more whole grain than any other ingredient, Big G cereal, combined with a ½ cup of milk, can help provide a great start to your family’s day

Whether you use one or connect them all, the fun with Big G Curvy Straws doesn’t have to stop when you reach the end of the bowl. Simply grab another serving of ice cold milk, and slurp away!"

Personally, I love to drink the milk from my cereal bowl. Especially if I have a fun cereal like Cocoa Puffs or Cinnamon Toast Crunch that leave behind a bit of the cereal flavor in the milk - yum! (Although, I just drink it right up, no straw required for me).

Wanting to pick up some boxes today? You can head here to download a printable coupon for $1.25 off of the purchase of (2) boxes of participating Big G cereal.

Giveaway

Thanks to Big G Cereals, through MyBlogSpark, one A Busy Mom of Two reader will win a Big G Curvy Straws prize pack.
The prize pack contains:

Yoplait Trix Yogurt - a giveaway

When I was growing up, I don't remember eating much yogurt until high school. Even then, I think I probably started to eat it because the 'cool kids' were all packing a lemon yogurt wrapped in foil for lunch everyday. At the time, it was a taste that took me a while to acquire. Now, well, I rather enjoy yogurt and typically take one for lunch everyday. As seems to be the case with most anything that I am eating, my kids want it to (now if that isn't incentive to eat right, I don't know what is!).

In order to encourage them to eat yogurt, and make sure it is the right size for them, I typically try to stick with the multipacks of 'regular' yogurt or pick up a kids' yogurt pack. The kid's yogurts seem to come in some seriously fun flavors - perhaps if when I was growing up Cotton Candy was an option for a yogurt flavor, maybe I would have eaten it more often.

"Everyone knows that “Trix are for kids,” and now Yoplait Trix yogurt is giving moms even more reasons to love it! Yoplait Trix yogurt has been reformulated to remove artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, and high fructose corn syrup, but only you will know the difference! Whether it’s for an afterschool snack or the highlight of your kid’s lunch box, now you can feel even better about giving your kids the snack that has the same great taste with two bright natural colors in every cup that they can enjoy every day.

  • With the same great taste that kids love and the wholesome goodness of real Yoplait® yogurt that moms appreciate, Yoplait Trix yogurt packs a good source of Calcium and Vitamin D
  • Available in 4-cup packs, with two bright, natural color combinations that can be swirled or eaten at once in every cup, kids can choose from five flavors: Strawberry Punch, Strawberry Banana Bash, Raspberry Rainbow, Triple Cherry, and Cotton Candy
  • Throughout the month of January, look for Bonus Box Tops for Education on each package of Yoplait Trix yogurt to help earn cash for your child’s school!"

You can learn more and connect with Trix Yoplait Yogurt, by checking out their Products Website, Like them on Facebook, and/or follow them on Twitter.

Whole Grains First Ingredient - giveaway

I know that I have said more than once that I really enjoy cereal. To me, it is great for breakfast, snack or even dinner (although, certainly not every day!). In fact, my kids even know that I like cereal for dinner and will sometimes request it when I am unsure of the dinner plan (or if something didn't work out as planned). I like a lot of different cereals and have been eating many of them for years. Fortunately for me, my habit of eating cereal seems to be getting better for me as the cereal companies have been working to improve the healthiness of their products in recent years.

Take, for example, the changes that General Mills has made, updating their products and offering many of their cereals with whole grains in the first ingredient.
They've even made it easier for the consumer to find, but marking them with the white check mark.

Ringing in the New Year often means new eating habits. We know whole grain is important to you, and the Dietary Guidelines recommend choosing products with a whole grain listed as the first ingredient. Now every cereal with the white check has more whole grain than any other single ingredient with the same great taste. You will see “whole grain” as a part of the first ingredient on the ingredient list, indicating that whole grain is the first and most prevalent ingredient.

According to Dr. Travis Stork, emergency room physician and host of “The Doctors,” identifying whole grain products can be challenging. Shoppers can look for nutritional cues on the front of the box, but they need to read the ingredient list to know if they are getting enough whole grain. Ingredient lists detail ingredients in order of prevalence, and if the words “whole grain” are followed by a grain like wheat or oats, it means the food contains more whole grain than any other single ingredient. Here’s how to determine if your cereals have whole grain as a first ingredient:

With all the health messages facing grocery store shoppers, it can be confusing to translate what appears on food labels into nutritional needs, and hard to determine which foods have a meaningful amount of whole grain. Dr. Stork has some additional recommendations to help you include whole grain easily into your diet.

    They include:
Start Early! The Dietary Guidelines recommend people get at least 48 grams of whole grain in their daily diets. Get a jump-start on the day’s nutrition by incorporating whole grain into your morning routine. For instance, when choosing cereal make sure whole grain is listed as the first ingredient. One easy choice is cereal with the white check, which have more whole grain than any other single ingredient.

Make Simple Swaps. Choose whole grain versions of the foods you love. Great options include whole wheat pasta and whole wheat bread or even whole grain crackers. Also, try different types of whole grain. Use brown rice instead of white rice as a side dish at dinner or popcorn, which is a whole grain, for a snack.

Don’t Judge a Food by Its Cover. The front of food packages provide good nutritional cues, but don’t forget to read the ingredients and check the nutrition label and side labels for additional health information. Cereals with the white check even include the amount of whole grain per serving on packaging.

To help with choosing products with whole grain, General Mills developed “Fast Lane for Whole Grain,” an online educational game. Consumers can navigate virtual grocery store aisles and identify products that have whole grain as the first ingredient, with the option to enter a sweepstakes to win one of each of the 50 cereals with the white check.

Make a commitment to add more whole grain to your diet by simply pouring a bowl of cereal with the white check including Cheerios®, Lucky Charms®, Cinnamon Toast Crunch®, Honey Nut Cheerios® and Total®.

For more information on the importance of whole grain and a chance to enter the “Fast Lane for Whole Grain” sweepstakes, visit www.WholeGrainNation.com.

Ocean Spray Fruit Flavored Snacks

As a mom on the go, I frequently find myself needing a quick snack that can hold the kids over until we get home for a meal. From my perspective, a quick snack on the go is probably better than grabbing a quick meal while we are out.

Fruit snacks are one of our go to snacks. I like that I can stash a couple in my purse, just in case. I don't have to worry about them getting crushed or breaking apart in my purse. They are also good for the swim bag - no worries about melting (although, I've had them stick together!) making them a mess to eat.
"So you want a snack your kids will love and that you can feel good about? With new Ocean Spray® Fruit Flavored Snacks, you need not look any further! Available in two delicious varieties, Ocean Spray® Fruit Flavored Snacks provide kids with the great tasting snacks they crave and parents with the confidence that they come from a good place. Ocean Spray® Fruit Flavored Snacks are:
  • †Made with real fruit juice and natural colors* and flavors.
  • 80 calories, gluten free and contain 100% of the Daily Value of Vitamin C.
  • Available with year round Double Box Tops.
  • *colors from natural sources †These Fruit Flavored Snacks are made with apple, pear, and cranberry juice concentrate. See package for a list of complete ingredients. They are not intended to replace fruit in the diet. "

I think I was the first one to try the fruit snacks. I tried the Berries & Cherries flavor. Then, the kids tried them. I asked my daughter what she thought. She said that she liked them and liked that "they were fruit flavored and shaped like their pictures." I took them to work and shared them with my friend, who claims to be a gummy addict. I figured, if she is a regular consumer of fruit snacks and other gummy treats, that she would be a good judge. She didn't say anything fun like my daughter but did enjoy them and thanked me for sharing.

Sam's Club Return to School - a giveaway

It is amazing to me how quickly the family (life really) goes from being on vacation or winter break or what have you to a normal routine. Over the holidays, I was fortunate to have a full almost two full weeks off from work. I am very grateful for that time off. Time to simply be with my family. We did a little bit of traveling and had a few errands that had to be run, but for the most part, we just did whatever and whenever. Dinners weren't planned out, lunches were cobbled together when someone was hungry. It was a bit of an adjustment as we had to get back to menu planning, sports schedules, packing lunches, after school snacks. Of course, here we are less than a week later and already it feels like there wasn't really a break.
With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is easy to forget about the work that goes into getting the kids prepped for return-to-school. Sam’s Club is here to help and to remind you to continue collecting Box Tops to help your school of choice. Frosted Toast Crunch Cereal

Breakfast cereal is one of my guilty pleasures. I have it not only for breakfast (although usually only on the weekend, during the week I take oatmeal to work), but also for dinner and an evening snack. I guess that the snack occasion has it's roots in having cereal as a snack with my aunts when I would spend the night at my grandma's house as a child. Now, as a grown-up, I love to enjoy a bowl in the evening as a snack. In fact, it meets so many snack criteria - it is full of flavor, it's crunchy, and it's sweet - it might just be one of the best snack options around for me. It can even fulfill a chocolate craving, talk about versatility.

As a result of my affinity for cereal, I am always looking to find new cereals to try and expand my choices. (you should see my cereal cabinet!) So, when I heard about the new Frosted Toast Crunch, I was excited to try it. I like Cinnamon Toast Crunch and I like vanilla, so it seemed like a great flavor combination.

Introducing NEW Frosted Toast Crunch, with the delicious taste of frosted vanilla (artificially flavored), this cereal is totally irresistible. Just one bite of the new Frosted Toast Crunch will send you into breakfast bliss, with each crunch square baked with the delightful taste of frosted vanilla (artificially flavored) and dusted with a delicious dash of cinnamon.
  • With 11 grams of whole grain, 9 grams of sugar and a good source of calcium, Frosted Toast Crunch offers a good start to the day
  • Crave those new FROSTED crazy squares? They’ll be available in your local grocers early January, just in time for return-to-school

My husband found the cereal to be okay. My kids both enjoyed it very much, even asking if we could buy more when the box ran out. I enjoyed it. I liked the mix of the vanilla and the cinnamon flavors. It is definitely a cereal I would add to my cereal list to pick up when there is a good deal.

Giveaway
One A Busy Mom of Two reader will win a Frosted Toast Crunch Prize pack.
The prize pack contains:
Spilt milk bowl
Lickety spoon
Frosted pitcher
Frosted Toast Crunch cereal

(The Spilt Milk Bowl is sort of fun - it is made of silicone and really looks like a splash of milk. The Lickety spoon looks like a long tongue, sort of a little bit strange.)

Chex Party Mix-change

Sure, everyone has heard of Cookie Exchanges. You know how it works, a group of friends or coworkers each bake their family favorite, packaging them up in dozen cookie packages. Then, everyone gets together for a little bit of camaraderie and exchanges cookies. You wind up with a collection of cookies to fill your cookie trays at holiday gatherings and at least for me, find yourself a new favorite.

This year, why not have a Chex Party Mix-change instead. The concept is similar, everyone make up their favorite Chex Party Mix recipe to share. The best part = is that you can "make Chex Party Mix in just 15 minutes" instead of spending hours baking. You can still get together for a the same camaraderie and come away with a number of varieties of Chex Mix to share with your family and friends at your holiday gatherings. Chex has even done some of the work for you - simply stop by the Chex Party Mix-change webpage and you can print up festive invites, shopping lists and recipe cards

With so many recipes to choose from, their is a Chex Mix to suit your want for sweet or savory. My newest favorite has to be the Snickerdoodle Chex Mix. It uses the Chocolate Chex, Cinnamon Chex and some popcorn, along with butter, cinnamon and sugar to create a yummy sweet party mix. I must admit though, as I was scanning the list of Chex Mix recipes to find the link I found several that I can't wait to try.

Giveaway!
To help you get started on your Chex Party Mix-change, Sam’s Club, Chex Party Mix and General Mills through MyBlogSpark are providing one A Busy Mom of Two reader with a Chex Party Mix-change Prize Pack, which includes a box of Chex Cereal and a $25 Gift Card to Sam's Club.

Yoplait Smoothie Reivew and Giveaway

My kids are both fans of smoothies. When we are out shopping, they frequently will ask if we can get one as a treat. I find that making them at home is a great way to save money.
Recently, Yoplait has started offering a new flavor of Yoplait Frozen Fruit and Yogurt Smoothie - Chocolate Banana Smoothie. I found this news very exciting. As a fan of smoothies and a chocolate lover, how could I go wrong. To make it even better - "New Yoplait Chocolate Banana Smoothies are more than just delicious, they’re an easy, guilt-free, anytime snack with only 130 calories per serving. Perfect for at-home, or on- the-go, just add milk, blend, and enjoy! Yoplait Chocolate Banana Smoothies have live and active yogurt cultures, and deliver 50% of the recommended daily value of calcium."

I headed to the store last night to pick up some things that we needed and headed to the freezer section to pick up a Yoplait Chocolate Banana Smoothie. Imagine my disappointment when I didn't see it on shelf. They had all of the other flavors: Triple Berry, Strawberry Banana, Blueberry Pomegranate, and Strawberry Mango Pineapple; but no Chocolate Banana. I walked away disappointed, but after a few steps, something made me head back. Perhaps it was that I was in the mood for a smoothie and figured could always enjoy another one of the flavors, or perhaps it was mother's intuition (can you have that about food?).

When I got back, I read each of the shelf tags to make sure that the store normally carries the Chocolate Banana flavor. I saw the tag there and decided to look a little deeper. I was so excited to find them, shoved to the back behind one of the other flavors. I'm not sure why I went back, but I was glad that I did.

After dinner, the kids wanted a snack, so I decided the time was right to give a try. I must say that it looked a little strange when I dumped the chunks of banana and chocolate yogurt into my blender. I added the milk (followed the "extra" milk so that we could use straws) and blended it. I poured a cup for each of us (the two kids and me) - we used extra milk, but each had about 6 oz (the bag makes two 8 oz servings when 1 cup of milk is used).

I found it to be flavorful. I liked the touch of sweet delivered by the chocolate and the taste of the banana was a perfect compliment to the chocolate. When I asked the kids what they thought, their response was "super, super good - can we make it again?".

Want to try them yourself? You can download a printable coupon for $1.00 off one package of Yoplait Chocolate Banana Smoothie.
