Another Great Deal at CVS

As I shared last week, I haven't been to CVS in a long time. I found myself with some ECBs from a couple of surveys I had completed, so I decided to stop by and use them before they expired. Again, I was planning on the fly, as I hadn't looked at the ad and I had no other coupons with me.

And, I still managed to spend only $.89 out of pocket (including tax) for all of this in two transactions:

Fruity Pebbles
Oral B 2-pk
Colgate Toothpaste
Softsoap
2 bags of Dove Chocolate

Have you gotten any good deals lately?

Love With Food - 2 exciting offers! #BlackFriday

No compensation was received for this post. I received a complimentary Love with Food box and information about the offer from Love with Food. All opinions expressed are entirely my own or that of my family.
A while back, I shared with you about a company called Love with Food - "the easiest way to discover and sample the best gourmet food delivered to your door for only $10/month". As an added benefit, for every box ordered, a meal is donated to feed hungry children in America. To date, they have donated over 100,000 meals. You can read more about this program on their website.

I really like this idea - what a great way to be introduced to new foods. I like to try new things and I like to encourage my family to try new things. Whether it is a new food product or a new recipe, you don't know if you will like it until you try it.

We recently received one of their boxes and it was filled with some items that we have not tried. When we opened the box, everyone quickly called dibs on the items that they most wanted to try. I was excited to try the Chocolate Pizzelle Crisps from Silk City Snacks. I am a fan of pizzelles and love that this pack of crisps only has 100 calories and there are 20 pieces! My husband was ready to try the Kind Bars in Almond & Coconut. My son was excited to try the Toasted Coconut Chips from Dang. My daughter wanted to try the Happy Squeeze Fruit and Veggie Twist - she is a big fan of squeezable fruit and the blueberry, apple and purple carrot sure sounds like a unique variety. Some of the other things we are looking forward to trying are New World Caveman Cookies - made with pumpkin seeds and maple syrup, amongst other ingredients - sounds interesting. There is a product called Pixo Pearls - apple cider vinegar pearls (only I think that my pearls have all broken based on how it looks and the picture on their website). We also received some Organic Hard Candies and some Glee Gum in a Triple Berry.

The boxes from Love with Food change each month and are based around a seasonal or other theme. The boxes feature 8+ gourmet food samples based on the theme. Once you've sampled the product, you can go back to their website and purchase the items from the box at a discount on their shop tab.

You can learn more about Love with Food by visiting their website, Like Love with Food on Facebook and follow them on Twitter and Pinterest.

Discount!
You will need to act fast to take advantage of these two special offers.

First, for every 6- and 12- month subscription purchased (including both personal and gift subscriptions), Love with Food will be adding on a bonus 2-year subscription to the Rachel Ray magazines. I have always enjoyed her magazine...I just wish I had more time to read it and make all the yummy recipes.

Right now, as part of their Black Friday deal, you can get 20% OFF all Subscription Plans + all 6, 12 month plans purchase will include the bonus I mentioned above - 2 Year subscription to Every Day with Rachael Ray Magazine!

Sale ends 12/1/13 at midnight!

Ellie by PV Body - save 20%!

The other night I was watching the Biggest Loser. It was Makeover week and I noticed that along with makeover week, they start wearing different stuff at weigh in. The men have stopped taking off their shirts and the women have switched from saggy, baggy to fitted. The thing that is most noticeable is how much better they look.

It got me to thinking how much better I feel when I am wearing clothes that fit right. When I wear saggy, baggy clothes, I tend to have a lower body image. Now that is not something that happens or that I think about when I am relaxing at home, but I do think about it when I am going out, going to work, or working out.

Last month I mentioned that I had gotten some new work out clothes through PV Body. At the time, they were sending outfits from assorted lines, but now they have launched their own line called Ellie. Now that I work out in a group exercise class several times a week and walk on a fully lit track, I feel that I need to wear clothes that are both comfortable and fit. The clothes that I received from their February collection are just that.

The pants were a pair of black capris with a bright pink waist band - they hit me mid-waist and are fairly fitted. That is a good thing - I have a pair of capris that are really flared and I always manage to catch my water bottle on my pants leg during spinning class, which sends the water bottle across the room and leaves me having to clamor off the bike to retrieve it during recovery. In general, I like the way that a fitted pant also helps me remember to pull my abs in while walking or running. It helps me maintain my posture. Plus, I feel like the fitted pants show off my curves - sure they are more generous than I prefer, but I feel better about me when the clothes are fitted (fitted not tight).

The shirt is perhaps one of the softest workout shirts that I own - I love it. It is a soft pink color. It is a longer cut - that works for me, shirts that are too short make me look extra wide - because they make me look straight from the top to the hip. Again, the shirt I chose is a little bit fitted - not tight, fitted. I really like it. It seems to move with me and doesn't get twisted or pull up as a work out. Having worked out in front of a mirror now, I realize that some of my less fitted shirts seem to leave me with skin showing when I am stretching and doing some of the exercises.

Ellie is "a fitness apparel brand that marries fashion and quality!" Join their Fit Fashionista Club and for only $49.95 / month (click here when you sign up and Save 20% on Ellie! - making it only $39.96). With the Fit Fashonista Club you receive two pieces (any price) from that month's collection. Order by the 7th of each month to choose your own, or they will select an outfit for you. Of course, you can always buy pieces on their own, without joining the club.

I love that they update their designs each month and because they are their own designs, I have less chance of finding myself wearing the same workout clothes as the woman next to me (that happened one time at Zumba - I felt a little uncomfortable, because of course, I felt that their outfit fit them better that mine did). I also like that their clothes wash up well, they are washer and dryer friendly.

Why don't you check out Ellie and find workout clothes for your style and fitness activities.

No compensation was received for this post. I am an Ellie Ambassador. When you sign up through my link, I will get a credit for your purchase. I was provided with a set of workout clothes, so that I could share my honest opinion on the product. All opinions are my own or that of my family.

Apple Cinnamon Chex deal!

I needed to pick up some ingredients for the salad that we were bringing to dinner at our friends' house tonight, so I decided to do my grocery shopping a day earlier than normal. I mapped out my menu and created a list, but didn't look at the ad. It was sort of strange shopping without knowing if there were any specials I should stock up on.

We seem to go through a good amount of cereal, so I always check the cereal aisle for deals. I was looking to see if Chex cereal was on sale this week, because I had a coupon with me and the kids enjoy it. I was surprised to see that just the Apple Cinnamon Chex were on sale, not any of the other varieties. I actually had two coupons so I grabbed two boxes.

Deal:
2 - Apple Cinnamon Chex @ $1.49/each

-$.50 Chex IP (from coupons.com - not sure if they are still available)
-$.50 double coupon
-$.50 Chex IP
-$.50 double coupon

Total OOP $.98 for TWO boxes of Apple Cinnamon Chex!

Of course, I used my Foodperks today too, which saved me 5%...so actually, I guess it was more like $.93 for two boxes.

On another note, I was sad to see that they had replaced their coffee bar with some machines, because they had to make room for draft beer. I missed being able to have a frozen coffee or a mocha while I shop. The cappuccino was tasty, but not quite the same experience (although, considerably cheaper).

DiGiorno Deal

A week or so ago, there was a coupon on Coupons.com for Buy 2 Get 1 Free DiGiorno Pizza deal (it was still available the other day). I printed it off, knowing that I was in the midst of defrosting my freezer and soon would be ready to stock up.

I went to Walmart and combined it with the iBotta coupon and got a great deal on pizzas.

6 - DiGiorno pizzas @ $4.98

-$4.98 DiGiorno B2G1 IP
-$4.98 DiGiorno B2G1 IP

Total $19.92 OOP

-$1 iBotta coupon

= $3.15 each net cost for the pizza.

Now, I purchased in two separate transactions, because I noticed that iBotta tends to bring back variations on the same offers. Unfortunately, their variation on this one was for a traditional crust, which I didn't buy or I could have gotten an additional $1 back.

Giant Eagle Greek Yogurt

I'm not sure when I started to eat yogurt, but I can remember in high school that I would bring it to lunch several days a week. You see, one of my friends, who was also a 'cool' kid brought in yogurt and well, I wanted to be part of the group. I remember at the time, I pretty much would only eat lemon. There was something about the lemon flavor that 'masked' the yogurt for me. Maybe it was because I expected a sour flavor, that it helped detract from the astringency of the yogurt.

Over the years, my tastes have matured and I have rather come to enjoy yogurt. There are so many more options, both in varieties and flavors, than there used to be. I tend to stick with the low fat/no-fat regular varieties of yogurt. I tend to stick with blended yogurts if I am getting regular yogurt, but like the 'stacked' parfait style yogurts with sprinkles.

My children were introduced to yogurt at a young age and it is a go to hold me over to dinner snack, when we are running out the door for sports and meetings, before we can eat a dinner. They also like it as a 'dessert', a lunch box treat, and a middle of the day snack too.

One of the types that I have been trying lately are the Greek Yogurts. I really like the idea of Greek yogurt - "which is strained extensively to remove much of the liquid whey, lactose, and sugar, giving it its thick consistency—does have an undeniable edge. In roughly the same amount of calories, it can pack up to double the protein, while cutting sugar content by half."

For a while, the only one that I could enjoy eating was a Key Lime flavor. Again, much like my high school experience, I was using the lime flavor to mask the yogurt. My experience with the Greek yogurt was that it was more astringent than regular yogurt - or maybe, because it was thicker it would hang on my tongue that extra bit and makes it seem more astringent. Either way, I felt a bit like I was forcing myself to eat it (sometimes grimacing as I did), because I knew it was probably that little bit better than a standard yogurt.

Much like my experience with regular yogurt, my tastes matured (or I got used to the change in texture and astringency) and started to branch out to other flavors. I have concluded that if there is fruit that I prefer it on the side or the bottom, not mixed. I am okay with the vanilla yogurt, but feel like I need to have some fresh fruit on the side.

I recently discovered a new Greek Yogurt on the shelf at Giant Eagle, Giant Eagle Greek Yogurt. "Giant Eagle Greek Yogurt has 0% fat, is gluten free, an excellent source of protein and comes in seven delicious varieties: Pineapple, Black Cherry, Strawberry, Peach, Raspberry, Vanilla and Plain." It carries their 100% satisfaction or Double Your Money Back Guarantee, too.

Currently, it is on promotion at 10 for $10. When we stopped in the store to pick up cheese for dinner the other night (we were having pizza and were out of mozzarella!), I grabbed a few varieties to check them out. My daughter chose Strawberry for her flavor and I grabbed Peach, Vanilla and Plain.

I was very pleased with the flavor and texture of the yogurt. The 6 oz cup was the perfect size. With 14 grams of protein (the plain has more), it really helped me on my way to meeting my daily target of protein. In fact, that is more protein in the cup of yogurt than some of the protein shakes I use and at a lower calorie content - I just might have to make a swap to eating my protein.

The vanilla was a little astringent to me, but when paired with some fresh berries, it was very balanced. (As an aside, I was at a party this weekend and someone had a bowl of fresh fruit and reached into the fridge and added a scoop of vanilla yogurt to the top - that is a great idea, I never would have thought of that. I frequently will have fruit on the side because I pack both in my lunch, but never really on top of my fruit like that.)

I really enjoyed the flavor of the peach fruit. The peach is on the bottom of the cup. I don't actually stir my yogurt, I dig down to the bottom on the first bite and then scoop a bit of the fruit with each bite. I feel like it delivers more fruit punch per bite that way. The size/shape of the cups allowed me to easily eat it in this fashion (I'm sure that I am strange for not mixing it - but, so be it).

I can't wait to pick up some of the other varieties to check out.

No compensation was received for this post. Giant Eagle provided information about the product and promotion, as well as a gift card so that my family and I could experience the new product. All opinions expressed are solely my own or that of my family.

Fort Rapids Waterpark - Columbus

As a busy mom, I enjoy taking short get away weekends with the family. It is not uncommon for us to take a weekend and head to a nearby amusement park, zoo, science center or water park. I like to keep the trip to only a few hours, so that the ride isn't too long and we can have more time at our destination.

One city that we have made weekend (or mid-week) trips to is Columbus. They have several attractions that the family enjoys. A while back, we made a weekend trip and met my cousin's family for some indoor water park fun. We headed to Fort Rapids. It is smaller than some other water parks that we have been to, but it was just the right size for us. I love that indoor water parks can be year round destinations. In the winter, you can escape the cold and snow. In the summer, you can hang out inside, away from the direct sun - this is really important as I seem to have a knack of getting burnt at the outdoor water parks.

See that purple slide? I am pretty sure that is the slide that my daughter declared her favorite on our last visit. Part of the Rascal Round Up play structure, she would venture to the top on her own and I would catch her at the bottom. Perhaps you see the racing slides behind it? That was is the Shoot Out Racer slide that my son enjoyed. Him and my husband raced down several times. I would walk over between my daughter's slides and see them come racing down. With only a 42" height requirement, my daughter should be able to join in on the fun and we can do some family races.

Great Deal! Save $50 off Overnight Stays OR $12 off Day Passes!

Fort Rapids is "central Ohio's largest indoor water park resort. Fort Rapids is the perfect family fun travel destination where 60,000 square feet of wet and wild fun is waiting for the whole family. Come relax and unwind in one of our guest rooms or family style villa suites, then zip down 12 unique water rides, float in the lazy river, get drenched by the 1,000 gallon tipping bucket and win big at the 5,000 square foot Gold Rush Arcade."

No compensation was received for this post. Information on the deal was provided through US Family Guide, of which I am a member blogger. In exchange for this post, my family is invited to enjoy a complimentary visit to the water park.

Kmart Cereal Deal - 3/5

I don't often shop at Kmart, but I always scan their ad just to see what they are offering, because I am usually near one at least once a week. This week, I was excited to see a deal on Kellogg's cereal.

Here's what I got:

5 boxes Kellogg's Cereals
1 8ct box Kellogg's PopTarts

-$5 $5/$5 Kellogg's Cereal IP (was available a few weeks ago)
-FREE PopTarts wyb 4 Kellogg's Cereals Shop My Way Rewards offer

Total $5 OOP. The receipt says that I saved $10.64.

Does anyone know if the free PopTarts deal is a limit of one? With the new $4/4 coupon that is available, I could go back and get 4 boxes of cereal and PopTarts for only $4 OOP.

Ponchillow

My kids love blankets. It is not uncommon to find several blankets around the house. My daughter loves to pull out blankets and use them for everything from a classroom to a cover. The kids like to cover up with the throws that we keep on the back of the sofa on Saturday morning when they are watching shows. When we watch movies, we have a stack of blankets in the media room that we can use (of course, if I use one it doubles the likelihood of me falling asleep during the movie!).

So, when I learned about the Ponchillow, I knew that it would be a hit at my house. A Ponchillow is a cross between a poncho and a pillow - their slogan is "Never Forget Your Pillow". The hooded "blanket" has a front pocket (and an inside one too) and a pillow attached just below the hood. The Ponchillow is available in both adult and children sizes (they also have a Pupchillow for your furry friend) and several patterns. The fleece material definitely can keep you warm.

We received a royal blue kids Ponchillow. As soon as it arrived, both kids were ready to take a turn trying it on. As you can see, when their knees are pulled up, the Ponchillow is long enough to cover them fully.
On New Year's Eve, as my son attempted to stay up to see the big ball drop, he was chilly and reached for the Ponchillow to stay warm and cozy. I was glad to see a sustained interest in the product.

I really like the idea of the Ponchillow. The fact that you can wear it makes it easier to bring along (no one has to carry it). I'm thinking too that it could be an interesting solution to a sleepy child in the car. Since our son is out of car seats altogether and my daughter uses a backless booster, they no longer have the luxury of a carseat side to lean against. We have travel pillows, but there isn't an easy way to keep them in place. With the Ponchillow, you have a blanket and a pillow, all in one - and the pillow won't fall on the floor while your child sleeps.

Pochillow is providing a special offer to A Busy Mom of Two readers - you can use the promo code ABUSYMOMOFTWO to get one free Ponchillow when you buy two. Offer expires on March 1st.
The kids Ponchillow retails for $24.99 and the adult Ponchillow for $29.99. You can purchase your Ponchillow direct. They are also featured in the January 2012 edition of SkyMall Magazine.

In addition, right now, Ponchillow is hosting a giveaway on their site. You can find the Ponchillow giveaway here.

No compensation was received for this post. A Ponchillow and information was provided by Ponchillow for this review. All opinions expressed are my own or that of my family.
