BeepEgg - A Singing Breakfast Party #Tryazon #Brainstream #beepegg

No compensation was received for this post. Complimentary BeepEggs and Ines Rosales torta, as well as information for the post, were provided so that I could host a party, through Tryazon.

This weekend I had the chance to host a Tryazon A Singing Breakfast Party, featuring the BeepEgg from Brainstream and Ines Rosales torta. The BeepEgg helps you make the perfect soft boiled, medium boiled or hard boiled egg.

I decided the best way to start was to demonstrate the functionality of the BeepEgg. We put a few eggs and the BeepEgg into a pan with tap water and turned on the heat.

After a few minutes, the egg beeped, letting us know that it was working and that the water had reached 45C. Then, a few minutes later, a beep to let us know the water was boiling and the stove temp could be turned down to medium. The first song the BeepEgg Classic played was 'Oh Susanna', letting us know we had perfect soft-boiled eggs.
We removed one egg and allowed the others to continue to cook. We cracked it open and took off the cap, revealing a perfect soft-boiled egg:
My mom even commented that she was so glad to have a perfect soft-boiled egg, because they are so hard to make.

The next song that the BeepEgg Classic played was 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame', letting us know we had perfect medium-boiled eggs. We removed one egg and allowed the others to continue to cook. We cracked it open and took off the cap, revealing a perfect medium-boiled egg:

The next song that the BeepEgg Classic played was 'Hail Hail the Gangs All Here', letting us know we had perfect hard-boiled eggs.

We loved that the egg sang each song multiple times and that even if you weren't standing at the stove, you could still make the perfect egg. I loved that the outside of the yolk in the hard boiled eggs was still yellow, mine always seem to be on the edge of turning green.

Now that all of the remaining eggs were hard boiled, we set out to make a few dishes to share.  My son is a fan of deviled eggs and since I use the same 'recipe' to make deviled eggs as I do for egg salad, we took the easy route and made part into deviled eggs and chopped up the rest to be egg salad.

Here the dishes are with some 'fancy' plating.

Deviled Eggs

Open Face Egg Salad Sandwich

We also tried Ines Rosales tortas.  I hadn't thought to buy some spreads for the tortes, which everyone agreed the Sesame Seed and Sea Salt variety needed.  The Seville Orange variety was a lightly sweet treat to cap the snack.

Everyone had a great time trying the products. Two lucky party guests also took home their very own beep egg - of course, one went to my mom so that she could make perfect soft boiled eggs at home.

History
Dr. Rupprecht Gabriel, a German engineer and entrepreneur, was always annoyed by his poorly boiled breakfast eggs. They were either too runny, too hard. In 2000, he decided to solve the problem and the BeepEgg was born - an egg shaped timer that could sing and float. Shortly thereafter Gabriel formed a creative team and Brainstream became an enterprise. Brainstream strives to impress their customers with their “fun and functional” products. Their line of products include BeepEgg, Cregg, SOI - the automatic handbag light, and more.

BeepEgg
The BeepEgg - looks like an egg, feels like an egg, boils like an egg, but unlike an egg it sings. BeepEgg is a precise egg-timer, which is boiled together with real eggs. The BeepEgg and real eggs have to enter water at the same time. Once yolk and egg-white have reached the desired degree of hardness, BeepEgg will play a tune.

Watch this video to see how it works:

Breakfast - the most important meal of the day!

No compensation was received for this post. As a Hormel Foods Extended Family Blogger, product samples, coupons and information were provided. All opinions expressed are entirely my own or that of my family.

I know that I have heard and read, time and again, about the importance of breakfast. It helps to fuel the start of the day and from what I have read gets your metabolism restarted (from 'idling' overnight). No matter the hurry we face, we always make time for some form of breakfast to start our day.

At our house, breakfast is frequently a meal that is eaten as individuals and varies widely from person to person and day to day. Breakfast can consist of cereal, or Oatmeal, or toast, or English muffins, or a bagel, or protein bar, or protein shake, or cinnamon rolls, or perhaps a traditional hot breakfast, or be as simple as a banana. Sometimes, it even consists of a few of these items.

On school mornings, timing can be a challenge. I am usually trying to get upstairs after my workout class to get my shower and head off to school when my kids are ready to eat breakfast. This can be a real struggle if they are undecided or want to choose a different type of cereal from our stash. I tend to take my breakfast to go, consuming a shake on my drive and a banana later in the morning.

Weekends allow for a more relaxed pace (usually). This is when making a batch of Cinnamon Rolls for the kids or pancakes or bacon and eggs can be a reality, although the truth is even that is still rare. I really love breakfast foods though, which is probably why I tend to make them a lot for dinner!

The new Hormel Compleats Good Mornings might just be a quick way to enjoy a warm breakfast any day of the week (or time of day).

Hormel® Compleats® Good Mornings – Breakfast is often considered the most important meal of the day, but it’s frequently skipped – in fact, while 84% of Americans believe that eating breakfast is an important part of their morning routine, 56% skip breakfast several times a week or more*. Fortunately, you can have the extra shut eye you desire and a hardworking breakfast to start the day, with four hearty new breakfast varieties of the Hormel Compleats lineup! Ready in just 60 seconds, select varieties of these convenient meals are made with real eggs and contain 17-21 grams of protein. Must-try additions to the portfolio include:
- Bacon Breakfast Scramble
- Sausage Breakfast Scramble
- Sausage Gravy & Roasted Potatoes
- Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

* According to a recent study conducted by global polling firm Penn Schoen Berland

We have had a chance to try the Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal and it was a nice change of pace. We also have a couple of the other varieties, but haven't yet given them a try.

What would you do with the extra time you save with Hormel® Compleats® Good Mornings?

Eggland's Best - a giveaway

Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month? It makes it a
great time to reevaluate the foods you feed your family, so you can feel confident you are feeding your family nutritious foods to help them grow.

Did you know that all eggs are not created equal? When compared to ordinary eggs, Eggland’s Best eggs contain:

· 10 times more vitamin E
· Double the amount of omega-3’s
· Twice the amount of vitamin D
· 3 times more vitamin B12
· 25% less saturated fat
· 38% more lutein

Courtesy of Eggland's Best, I had the opportunity to plan a little brunch. I decided that to make it 'eggs-tra' 'eggs-cellent' I would make most of my dishes themed around the egg. I also wanted dishes that I could make ahead and have ready to assemble and serve - who wants to be busy in the kitchen when your guests are arriving and hanging out - not me!

Egg, Ham and Cheese Sandwiches

Deviled Eggs

Open Face Egg Salad Sandwich

Crustless Quiche

Hard Boiled Eggs (colored, of course!)

Cucumber Salad

Beer Bread

Fruit Salad
Egg Cut Out Cookies

I got creative with building my cookie plate and added a flower cookie on top of the eggs, to make it look like a flower with multi-color petals. I love the effect!

If you are looking for more inspiration in planning a brunch (or breakfast, lunch or dinner for that matter), there are several great egg recipes at Eggland's Best Website - like the Breakfast Burrito and the Sunny Side Breakfast Pizza.

National Corned Beef Hash Day!

I am really starting to think that there is a National day for everything! Today, just so happens to be Corned Beef Hash Day. I happen to be a fan of Corned Beef Hash, especially when it is prepared crispy (prefer my bacon crispy too).

I am not really sure when I first had corned beef hash, but I do recall having corned beef and noodles as a kid. I associate corned beef hash with breakfast and generally, it is a 'treat' that I only have on occasion when we are out to eat. Surprisingly, it is not on the breakfast menu at many breakfast places, or at least not that I have seen.

I have been known to have breakfast for dinner, but I also have it for lunch sometimes. In fact, there is a greasy spoon near where I work and they make a really great corned beef hash and do a good job of getting the corned beef crispy like I like. Typically, I enjoy it with two over medium eggs (you know - white is cooked through, but the yolk is still dippy style) and sour dough toast.

Are you familiar with Corned Beef Hash? Hash is a culinary term for a mixture of foods that have been finely chopped or diced. As the name would suggest, corned beef hash has corned beef and diced potatoes.

I was excited to find that it is available at my local grocery store. In fact, Hormel offers three varieties - Roast Beef Hash, Corned Beef Hash and Reduced Fat Corned Beef Hash. It lets me get my fix at home - and is usually how I fit corned beef into my St Patrick's Day meal plan.

Do you enjoy corned beef hash? How do you eat it?

Breakfast for Dinner with Tyson Breakfast Bowls #cBias

When it comes to my weekly meal planning, I am a big fan of including breakfast for dinner. It is one of those meals that is appealing to everyone and offers many options. When we have breakfast for dinner, it can include anything from scrambled eggs, to omelets, to pancakes, to waffles, to sausage and pierogie, to breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg and cheese on an English Muffin), to Blueberry Bread Pudding and even on occasion, a bowl of cereal. I like to serve fruit as a side dish when we have breakfast for dinner.

Recently, I had the opportunity to check out the new Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls. I picked them up at Sam's Club, along with some gorgeous strawberries that I thought would make a great side dish and several other items that we were in need of. You can check out all of the pictures from my shop here, but here are a few highlights:

,

The Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls package from Sam's Club comes with 12 bowls.

I like that they are wrapped two to a pack, allows me to make only a portion and know that the rest are still sealed and fresh in my freezer.
Preparation was so easy, just about 3 minutes in the microwave.
Served with a side of pierogie and strawberries, it was a crowd pleaser.
Some might pick up the bread bowl and eat it, but the kids preferred them cut up.
My daughter, of course, needed some ketchup since she always dips her eggs in ketchup.

With such quick and easy preparation, Tyson Breakfast Bowls will make a good option for us for dinner during the upcoming sports season. I always struggle when we are in the thick of practices and games to find quick meal options that allow us to continue to eat as a family every night. Eating as a family is a priority for me.

Have you tried #TysonBreakfast? What are your go to quick meals?

You can connect with Tyson on Twitter and Facebook.

Be sure to join in on the Twitter party on April 19 at 1:00 EST. You can share with others about Tyson Breakfast Bowls.

Holiday Traditions - Breakfast Casserole

I am not sure when the tradition was started, but one year, after we visited the family of one of our neighbors, we started having Breakfast Casserole every Christmas morning for breakfast. It was a perfect breakfast for Christmas morning. The casserole is prepped the night before and then, Christmas morning, it is placed in the oven to bake. Allowing us to enjoy a hot breakfast with eggs and bacon without spending time in the kitchen prepping food on Christmas morning. My mom always made the dish using bacon, but I think it would be great to change it up and make it with Hormel Cure 81 Ham. In fact, if you have the Ham for dinner on Christmas Eve, you could simply use the leftovers. If not, you could buy the Sliced or Diced variety for easy preparation.

Breakfast Casserole
1 lb Ham (or Bacon/Sausage), cooked
6 eggs
2 c milk
1 tsp dry mustard
6 slices bread
1 c grated cheddar cheese

Line bottom of buttered 9x13 pan with bread. Spread the diced ham over the bread. Cover with cheddar cheese. In a bowl, beat 6 eggs with milk, salt and dry mustard. Pour over bread, meat and cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered at 350 for 45 minutes.

Delicious Dessert or Breakfast

One of our local grocery stores regularly features a recipe in their weekly ad. A few weeks ago, they had a special on Michigan Blueberries and included a recipe for Bursting Blueberry Bread Pudding. I made it for dessert, but as I was eating it, I decided it sort of tasted like a French toast bake with lots of blueberries. It would work well as a breakfast as well. Bursting Blueberry Bread Pudding 3 c. nonfat milk 3 eggs 1/2 c sugar 1/4 c honey 1 t vanilla extract 1/4 t almond extract 1/4 t cinnamon 5-6 c day-old, torn whole wheat bread 2 c blueberries 3 T whole wheat flour Preheat oven to 350°. Coat an 11” x 7” baking dish with non-stick spray. Whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, honey, extracts, and cinnamon. Add bread and let stand for 15 minutes. Dust the blueberries with flour; discarding any excess flour. Add berries to bread mixture; pour into prepared pan. Bake for about 1 hour, or until bread pudding is set and lightly browned. I will admit that I didn't use whole wheat bread or flour, although that would have made it healthier. I used part of a left over loaf we had had for pasta a couple of days earlier and the last few slices of a loaf of sandwich bread. I am planning to make this for breakfast, the next time we have overnight company. For other recipes, check out the recipe swaps this week at Mommies with Cents and the Grocery Cart Challenge. Happy cooking!
