Marcal Small Steps

A while back I was contacted about giving Marcal Small Steps products a try. Now, we had tried the tissues before with a coupon that came in the Sunday paper. We were not excited about the product. The tissues were not very comfortable on a nose made tender by repeated blowing and wiping. But, I didn't want to rule out their entire product line since the products are made of 100% premium recycled paper, which is good for the environment.

When my package of toilet paper arrived, I swapped it in our half bath, which gets the most traffic, without telling anyone. Overall, I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The toilet paper was not as rough as the tissues were and seemed to be plenty absorbent. Sure, it wasn't the softest tissue but compared to many papers used in public facilities, it was softer and thicker. Overall, the family was okay with the toilet paper.

Based on this experience, I would also consider trying out their paper towels and napkins. When I was shopping for the product, there was a slight price premium, but with coupons, the prices are fairly comparable to the retail of other brands. Coupons seem to be readily available lately as well.

Have you tried the Marcal Small Steps line? What did you think?

I did not receive any compensation for this post, but did receive a 4-pack of toilet paper for the purposes of review.

Marcal is the biggest air and water polluter in the state of New Jersey. They have been fined almost a billion dollars by the EPA, and do much more harm than good. They filed Chapter 11 to avoid paying for the clean up, and also used it as an opportunity to break their union contract. Nice guys, huh? Then when they emerged from bankruptcy, they painted themselves green. For them to claim to be a green, eco-friendly company is a joke, as well as a lie.
